Raiders general manager said the story was "hogwash", adding that the team had signed him and advanced Dillard $5,000 of a $12,000 to play for Oakland after his Calgary contract expired. Instead, Dillard signed a new contract with Ottawa Rough Riders after that team received him from Calgary in trade. The Raiders sued for the return of the advance money and received half of it by arrangement with the Rough Riders. They expected to receive the other half this year.
