November 30, 1959 – Selected by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 1960 NFL draft.

December 4, 1959 – Minneapolis/St Paul traded his signing rights to Dallas for a future unspecified draft pick.

December 31, 1959 – Signed by the Texans.

January 30, 1960 - AFL awarded his league signing rights to Oakland, potentially nullifying his contract with Dallas.

March 3, 1960 – AFL announced its intention to transfer his contract to Oakland. Dallas objected and said they would compensate Oakland with 
another player or a draft pick. The league consented to the deal.
