Spring – Selected in the AFL redshirt draft, date unknown. There's a mystery here, though. He had been drafted by the 49ers and signed in January after quitting school. At the time he was identified as a senior. He washed out early in 49ers camp that summer and at the time was identified as a Raiders draftee. A December 1961 story in the Examiner suggested he had still had a year's college eligibility remaining when he reported to camp. A topic for future delving.
