•	The United Press reported that the AFL had given the team permission to move to Portland, Oregon, during league meetings in San Diego.

•	Co-owner [[Wayne Valley]] denied the story, calling it "malicious, unfounded, and unverified."

•	AFL commissioner Joe Foss called it a "wild and vicious" rumor and said that the topic had never come up in discussion.

•	Following yesterday's story about Valley meeting with a San Diego assistant coach, Valley acknowledged that he had spoken with [[Chargers]] assistant Al Davis about the head coaching job, though not the five times reported in the story, and that he had also talked to several other candidates, whom he would not name.
