  * The //Berkeley Gazette// reported that cornerback [[Fred Williamson]] had joined wide receiver [[Art Powell]] in requesting a trade. According to the story Williamson was hoping to go to New York and take advantage of the media attention he would garner there.

  * The paper also reported that Powell was suing the //Chronicle// for reporting that he had been experiencing racism from his neighbors in Richmond. The amount of the suit was $1 million.

  * Quarterback [[Tom Flores]] underwent surgery for a deviated septum.
