Clord Boyette was a tackle out of Texas Southern drafted by the Minneapolis/St. Paul franchise in late 1959 before that team dropped out of the league. He was among the first group of players whose signing rights the AFL awarded to Oakland in March, 1960. He participated in the first week of training camp, but was cut by the team on July 19. He was the brother of linebacker Garland Boyette, who had an eleven-year pro football career with the Cardinals, Oilers, and Montreal Alouettes, and played in two AFL All-Star Games. He died in 1995 at the age of 60, leaving behind his wife, Shirley, and a son, Clord, Jr.
