• The bill to authorize the use of state land south of Lake Merritt for the construction of a stadium passed in both the State Senate and Assembly and was sent to Governor Pat Brown for signature

• The Associated Press reported that the team had drafted end Alan Goldstein from Buffalo, though the team did not confirm the report

• Head coach Eddie Erdelatz and nickname contest winner Helen Davis were the guests of honor at a meeting of the Boosters Club at the Lake Merritt Hotel

• At the Boosters Club event, three of the team’s owners—Roger Lapham, Robert Osborne, and Harvey Binns—voiced their dislike of the nickname “Senors” and Osborne said it could be changed “within a week”
