The Sporting News named quarterback Daryle Lamonica the AFL Player of the Year as voted on by the league's players. Along with Lamonica, seven other Raiders were named to the magazine's All-AFL team: guard Gene Upshaw, center Jim Otto, fullback Hewritt Dixon, placekicker George Blanda, defensive end Ben Davidson, defensive tackle Tom Keating, and cornerback Kent McCloughan.
