• In response to the Raiders' signing yesterday of former Titans wide receiver Art Powell, Titans owner Harry Wismer asserted that Raiders co-owner Wayne Valley had colluded with Powell to play poorly in 1962 knowing he would be picked up by Oakland for this season and generally accused the Raiders of underhanded dealings.
• An AFL representative said in response that Raider general manager Al Davis had been given “verbal permission” to talk with Powell and that since Powell was a free agent “there hardly can be anything illegal or unethical with Oakland signing him.”
