• A day after the team announced they had acquired the signing rights to quarterback Terry Baker from the Chargers, Baker said he wouldn't make any decisions about pro football until after the collegiate basketball season was over.
• The Tribune reported Toronto of the CFL was also in the running for Baker's services and had offered him a three-year deal worth $125,000.
• Baker would neither confirm nor deny the story.
• General manager Wes Fry said the team had sold 5,510 season tickets for 1963 so far.
