  • NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle ruled that the rights to the services of rookie Arizona halfback Tony Lorick belonged to the Colts. Both the Raiders and the Colts drafted Lorick and both claimed to have signed him to a contract. Raiders general manager Al Davis argued that his team had signed Lorick first, but Rozelle was unmoved by the argument. Davis said the team “(did) not consider the matter closed.”
