Wide receiver Art Powell and cornerback Fred Williamson continued to lobby to be traded. Powell reportedly sold his Richmond home and planned to move to Toronto, where his wife was from, within days. Williamson, meanwhile, was asking to be traded to an Eastern team or be given a raise in pay.
