The Raiders signed a contract with KEWB Radio to broadcast the team's games for the 1966 season. San Francisco Warriors broadcaster Bill King was hired to do the play-by-play, replacing Bob Blum, who was moving into a production role.
Though it wouldn't be reported publicly for several days, the team signed Rams quarterback and former Raiders first-round draft pick Roman Gabriel to a three-year deal that would begin in the 1967 season after Gabriel played out his NFL option.
