• Head coach Eddie Erdelatz announced a pair of lineup changes for the Chargers rematch on December 4: John Dittrich would replace Wayne Hawkins at right guard and Doug Asad would start in place of Gene Prebola at tight end
• Per the league’s official statistics, the Raiders were sixth in total offense at 316.1 yards per game and dead last in defense at 355.2 yards surrendered per game
• The only individuals listed in the top five of any statistical category were Wayne Crow, who was fourth in punting at 39.1 yards per kick and Jack Larscheid in punt returns at 8.7 yards per return
• Two more lineup changes were in the works because of previously unreported injuries to wide receiver Alan Goldstein and defensive tackle George Fields
• Nyle McFarlane would take Goldstein’s place and Don Deskins would replace Fields
