The Raiders claimed halfback Gene Mingo off waivers from the Broncos. As part of the deal the Raiders sent a “medium-high” pick in the upcoming draft to Denver and the Broncos also claimed tackle Stan Fanning from the Raiders' taxi squad. Fanning had been picked up by Oakland a couple of weeks ago. The waiver exchange was a work-around to avoid the AFL's already-past trade deadline.
