  • The Berkeley Gazette reported that cornerback Fred Williamson had joined wide receiver Art Powell in requesting a trade. According to the story Williamson was hoping to go to New York and take advantage of the media attention he would garner there.
  • The paper also reported that Powell was suing the Chronicle for reporting that he had been experiencing racism from his neighbors in Richmond. The amount of the suit was $1 million.
  • Quarterback Tom Flores underwent surgery for a deviated septum.
