The Chargers beat the Raiders, 46-17, in a preseason contest at Multnomah Stadium in Portland, Oregon.

The coaches tried defensive back Larry Todd out at halfback during the game.

Linebackers Arch Matsos and Bill Budness each sustained a possible concussion and defensive back Dave Grayson sprained his ankle. None of the players were expected to miss the preseason closer against the Broncos in Sacramento on September 4.
