• The team opened training camp with physical exams and drills
• The team had 76 players under contract, but only 75 showed up for camp, as center Bob Nelson was out while he finished his military obligations
• Head coach Eddie Erdelatz said he expected to make roster cuts within the first week of training camp
• Sometime prior to this date the team hired Pat Frye to work in the ticket office, Lou Lippi as team photographer, James Van Deusen as assistant trainer, Bettina De Dios to work in the public relations office, and Nola Barron and Lauri Spyers as team secretaries.
