  • Tribune columnist George Ross reported that the Raiders and Jets had come to an agreement regarding New York’s signing of placekicker Jim Turner. The Raiders had protested Turner’s signing with the league, arguing that the league had awarded signing rights to all players cut by the Redskins, which Turner had been, to the Raiders. According to Ross, the Raiders gave up the rights to Turner in exchange for unspecified “reciprocal considerations.”
