Head coach John Rauch announced that Tom Flores would make his first start of the season at quarterback against the Dolphins on the 9th. He also said Tom Mitchell would start at tight end and Jim Harvey would be back at right guard.

Wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff (eye) was also recovered sufficiently to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup.
