Head coach Al Davis affirmed that Tom Flores would start at quarterback in tomorrow's regular season opener against the Patriots.

The other starters on offense were to be: Art Powell and Bo Roberson at receiver, Ken Herock at tight end, Proverb Jacobs and Frank Youso at the tackles, Bob Mischak and Wayne Hawkins at the guards, Jim Otto at center, and Clem Daniels and Glenn Shaw in the backfield.

On defense, the team planned to start Dalva Allen, Dan Birdwell, Dave Costa, and Jon Jelacic on the line, Arch Matsos, Clancy Osborne, and Jackie Simpson at linebacker, and Fred Williamson, Jim McMillin, Joe Krakoski, and Tommy Morrow in the secondary.

Transactions

The Raiders signed defensive back Howie Williams and placed him on the taxi squad sometime between this date and September 27.
