A panel of five judges was getting ready to wade through an estimated 10,000 entries to name the team. The panel included Alameda County Supervisor Francis Dunn, the chair of the Chamber of Commerce Stadium Committee, George Jacopetti, Oakland city councilman Dan Marovich, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Hal Price, and team partner and general manager Chet Soda. The winners were to be announced on the 6th.
