Oakland general manager Chet Soda said the team would play five preseason games, none of which would be at home. The team announced it had already received 3,000 applications for season tickets.

At the league meetings

On the last day of league meetings, further scope was given to player allocation. The league planned to create a territorial aspect to the college draft, giving teams priority on drafting players in their area. They also gave teams regional priority when signing cuts from NFL teams. Oakland was to have the first shot at 49ers castoffs as well as a portion of players let go by the Redskins.
