The Oilers beat the Raiders, 42-28, in Houston.

Prior to the game the team activated wide receiver Fred Gillett from the taxi squad. They also added defensive backs Mark Johnston and Louis Guy to the active roster. Johnston and Guy had been waived by the Oilers in the previous few days and had been picked up by the Raiders.

The team also waived defensive back Warren Powers.
