January 1 - Signed their 25th-round pick, end Paul Yanke, and their 27th-round pick, end Clar Appledoorn.

January 4 - Ed McGah named interim president and Bud Hastings named interim general manager.

January 15 - Don Blessing, Charles Harney, Roger Lapham, Wallace Marsh, and Chet Soda sold their shares of the team to Ed McGah, Robert Osborne, and Wayne Valley. McGah was named team president, Valley was named vice president, and Osborne was named treasurer.

January 16 - Signed their 15th-round draft pick, wide receiver Bob Coolbaugh.

January 17 - Signed their 13th-round draft pick, wide receiver Jerry Burch. Signed free agent halfback Oneal Cuttery.

January 23 - Defensive backfield coach Ed Cody resigned.

June 9 - The AFL awarded the team two 12th-round picks in the 1962 draft in compensation for the loss of the signing rights to halfback CJ Alexander to the Patriots and defensive end Jim O'Brien to the Bills. Both players had been part of the Minneapolis/St Paul group in the 1960 AFL draft.

June 14 - Signed two free agents: linebacker Dick Carlsen and guard Jim Green.

July 9 - Guard Don Manoukian retired from pro football.

July 14 - Acquired linebacker Al Bansavage from the Chargers for an unspecified future draft pick.

July 21 - Signed two free agents: quarterback Nick Papac and halfback Ed Whittle. Tackle Ray Schaack informed the team he would not report to training camp.

July 22 - Waived tackle Dalton Truax and defensive tackle Don Deskins. Defensive tackle Ron Warzeka and end Fred Tunnicliffe informed the team they would not report to training camp.

July 26 - Defensive tackle Ramon Armstrong retired from pro football. Released five players: running back Bo Bankston, defensive back Clive Bullian, linebacker Dick Carlsen, defensive back Grover Garvin, and defensive back Ed Whittle.

August 15 - Traded halfback Dick Christy to the Titans for tight end Dave Ross and a player to be named later.

August 22 - Purchased the contract of defensive tackle Volney Peters from the Chargers for an undisclosed sum. Tackle Francis Morelli reported to the team after being added to the trade of Dick Christy to the Titans for Dave Ross. Waived cornerback Bob Cabanyog, guard Roger Meitz, and tackle Dave Williams.

August 23 - Signed two free agents: cornerback Fred Williamson and fullback Jim Jones. Waived cornerback John Hardy.

August 27 - Signed their 19th-round draft pick, halfback Charley Fuller. Waived defensive end Jim Toon and fullback Oneal Cuttery.

August 29 - Acquired guard John Cadwell from the Texans for Oakland's 11th-round pick in the 1962 draft. Wide receiver Herm Urenda placed on the inactive list.

August 30 - Waived fullback Jetstream Smith, wide receiver Alan Goldstein, tackle Francis Morelli, wide receiver Clar Appledoorn, guard Arnold Metcalf, and cornerback Frank Bernardi. Public relations director Jack Gallagher resigned.

August 31 - Signed two free agents: offensive lineman Jim Brewington and defensive end Jon Jelacic. Placed center Harrison Rece on injured reserve.

September 5 - Waived five players: tight end Carmen Cavalli, cornerback Eddie Macon, guard John Cadwell, tight end Dave Ross, and tackle Julius Varnado.

September 7 - Signed free agent guard Herb Roedel. Waived guard John Dittrich.

September 11 - Signed free agent defensive end Gary Finneran. Waived fullback Jim Jones. Hired Bill Tunnell as public relations director.

October 2 - General manager Bud Hastings resigned.

October 9 - Named Wes Fry acting general manager. Named Ed Walls business manager. Activated tackle Cliff Roberts from the taxi squad.

October 26 - Activated fullback Clem Daniels from the taxi squad. Waived fullback Walt Kowalczyk. Placed defensive tackle Hal Smith on injured reserve.
